So. It was a busy nerdy weekend it seems. Some things funny, somethings not so funny. So I'm going to give you a quick run down of things.

First up :
Karen Gillan the current Doctor who Companion actress it seems got lost after one hell of a party at The Ace Hotel. I'll leave you with the article snip it from Topless Robot :

Doctor Who star Karen Gillan was found naked in a New York hotel corridor after a night of riotous partying.

Miss Gillan, 23, who plays the Time Lord's assistant Amy Pond, was seen 'whimpering' in the nude by guests at 7am before security arrived, wrapped her in a sheet and escorted her to her room.

She and co-stars including Matt Smith, who plays the Doctor, had been put up at The Ace, one of Manhattan's trendiest hotels, during a promotional trip.

After fulfilling their duties, the cast and crew enjoyed 'one long party', according to fellow guests. One permanent male guest told the Daily Mail he heard someone trying to open his door at 7am.

The resident, who later identified the stranger as Miss Gillan, said: 'I went to the peephole and looked out. I saw a man at the lift who was looking back at someone who was attempting to open my door... the next thing I saw was a woman giving this person at my door two towels before getting into the lift and leaving.

'Then I saw this young woman, completely naked, trying to wrap two towels around her and not having much luck. 'She then started to whimper and knock on my door. Seeing that she wasn't getting anywhere, she lay down with the towels covering her.'

Geekyest way to say Marry me?

I found this on Geeksaresexy.net and had to share it. As far as geeky marriage proposals that I've seen or read about this has to be up there. Most tend to be game related. Like the now well know story of the man who hacked his girlfriends Bejeweled game to pop the question. One so clever that Pop Games, the maker of Bejeweled even helped the couple out by paying for their honey moon.

Others have followed suit, hacking games, staging events it seems. With the advent of the internet fame that can come with being sickeningly sweet and geeky each man (or women) is out to over throw the current "Geeky Marriage proposal" couple. Youtube is full of them. Makes you wonder what some of these people would have done twenty years ago when they had to be satisfied with simply retelling the story to friends and family who couldn't be there for the big event.

I can't honestly say one way or another if I would enjoy the attention or would want my significant other to go about asking me to marry them in such a way. I suppose for me as a geek girl it'd have to be done in a rather interesting way. Mainly being, since I do surf the internet without a guide (MWAHAHA) I do stumble across those proposals as everyone links them, talks about them and re-posts them. I beleive I would be disappointed with the lack of creativity in my partner if they chose to copy someone else idea. Like that whole rose story from ages past that I'm sure millions of guys thought them selves "ever so clever" by copying the idea and replaying it out with the girl they were with (and hoped like hell she didn't know the story!) at the time. Nothing wrong with it, but when I can Google it and five at least 7 "How to" type sites suggesting this, its time to find something else gents!

Pottermore

Now if your a Harry Potter fan your panties are in a bunch with the movie so close to release. And potentially even more so since Ms. Rowling put Pottermore up a few weeks back leaving everyone guessing as to what it could/would be. I honestly hoped it was a MMORPG (like I NEED another game) as the world of HP is as vast as our own and much of it has yet to be discovered truly. (Like why isn't there any Asian or American wizards?) The books themselves have created a cult following unlike any modern books, and the movies have only furthered that. I'm honestly waiting for the last movie before I pick up the books and begin back tracking.

Yes, this means I've not read them. At the time the series started the few friends I had in to the books actually managed to creep even me out with how obsessed they became. Those people are no longer in my life so its an idea I've considered for some time now. But with the movies almost over, I figured it might be good to finish one and then go to the other. I'm getting off track here though!

Some things never change. And one of those things I can promise you, is that I am a gamer. Its been a year since I last gave anyone a peep to me being alive. I've mainly been living my life and figuring things out. Much has passed, moved on and for lack of anything else, fallen to dust.

The notion has struck me, that I have the time now - even with going back to school - that I have the time to actually write. The question came do I write for this blog or the other blog. Well, my choice was this one as I am still a 100% gamer. But I've not done anything news worthy in the Model world. And I'm not sure if I will to be honest. But given geeky things happen everyday - why not talk about that?

Does anyone else find it funny that Steve Jobs won't allow for any progression for the iPhone to support flash when the apple website uses it in ever aspect they can? Oh and that its supposedly a "dying" format of code and everyone will be using HTML5? Someone ask him to look at his company's website before he makes such silly statements. While the man is smart and knows how to get the public's true attention of things worth their time, he seems not to see things as they are now. I understand he's trying to push the boundaries, but till everyone jumps on the apple train and uses HTML5, could to try to support flash, please?

Btw, the video has nothing to do with this blurb. Just a song and video I find appealing right now. That's all.

While there has been a great amount of buzz regarding video game, comic and general nerd movies to be hitting the big screen in 2010, only a few have been making their way out for grubby hands to share and bitch about. Two were reported to get Super Bowl add spots, but alas I only seen one. That one being Prince of Persia. I played the game ages ago and in my thirst for Bioshock ownership, traded it in. Nothing a truly regret, considering I can get it for a decent price now if the urge to play strikes me

Yep. You read right. Spider-man is already (not even 10 yrs old) getting a reboot. I'm baffled. While delighted that the scream worthy rumors I had been hearing are now dead, these new ones make me twitch. I mean, seriously? WITH ALL the movie worthy titles marvel has - they want to reboot Spider-man?

Well given they've done, what, four reboots of the comic in the last two years. Why not add the movie to the list? Makes me very sad. They had something going, three was horrid but that didn't mean four couldn't recover. With Spidy there is a lot of martial to work with, lots of ground you can cover. Still alive.. Dealing with Life changes..

So life keeps changing. I'm still playing wow, I now own a Wii, PS3 and I'm looking at hand helds to bring in to my gaming life. Right now I'm taking a break from WoW.. Not by choice. My gaming PC after being upgraded to Windows 7 ( Which is FUCKING AMAZING ) has run in to some issues.

With the help of friends I've trouble-shooted it down to being either the HDD's or maybe even the OS. Rare but it happens. Worst all out scenario is my MB is fucked. I hope not but hey shit happens. We all know this.

I've been consuming my time with Little Big Planet, playing through Bioshock on the PS3 while I wait for Bioshock 2 to be released. VtM: Bloodlines again with the updated unofficial patches. And other things. I'm trying to sort my self out so to speak, so this blog may become a little more personal. For the moment I'm not modeling. Though I'd like to, I'm kinda in hiding just because I'm sorting things out as they come for me.

My Husband joined the army and is in basic right now. My gaming has been what keeps me going. I'm looking to start blogging again just to give me a focus to keep me rolling along since i seem to be getting "stuck". Your welcome to keep following or to get lost, its all fine and dandy by me. Gaming is my hobby and my passion.

But understand I'm Human. I have a life. I'm doing this on the side for fun to share my thoughts on things, I'm not getting paid so from time to time, things are bound to slip through the cracks.

So forgive me if you like, for sake me if you wish, but remember : I AM HUMAN!

This past week or so has been crazy. And I know I've been lacking in updates, but when so man cons going on - that many companies feel the need to debue games at, run trailers at and sneak out information its been a lot to digest and consum. So in some attempt to return this information to you my brain has gone to mush.

E3, SDCC and Blizzcon with in the last month (or coming up) and those are just the BIG events. That doesn't include all the smaller events were side line stuff is sneaked out. My brain is about to explode!

So here's the run down of what I got for you - that I can remember - I'll organize my thoughts and put them all together better.

The nightmare on elm street movie is in production as we speak, without Robert England *cry*, but fear not they are attempting to stay close to the core but reinvent the nightmare just a little different for the actor attempting to fill his shoes. Only time will tell if this is going to crash and burn or breath new life in to Elm Street.

Blizzard has once again announced a full length movie done based on Warcraft - not new news but they actually have a director attached this time around. Many people agree that they really need to just do this them selves with the help of a director. Lord knows they have the skill and technology to wow crowds, but rumors are they want to opt for a live action feature. That makes me sad. There are enough man made elves running about, give us some digital goodness dammnit!

Fox still has a brain - thanks to the fellow at TR for this tid bit that made my day - they worked out contracts with the ORIGINAL Futurama cast rather then replace them like they have been threatening to do these last weeks with casting notices for the key characters of the show. THANK GOD!

Moving on from that thought my heart was broken to hear that while Riddly Scott is returning to direct the new Alien movie - supposed to be a prequel - to the original but apparently its not all that it should be. Trying to go back to the original ship - assuming he means the one that is found empty in the first - and go in to how the aliens were originally made. Really?.. REALLY? I thought you covered that already? I mean didn't this get touched upon Ooooh some where in the second or thrid? How bout those piss poor excuses of movies AvP? Yeah. People make me sad.

I was uber excited about the Blood the Last Vampire movie - but from reports at Bloodydisgusting.com it fails to really do the series justice. I've not had the chance to see it for my self cause while it was released in the states - no theater within driving distance picked it up. So I must wait for the DVD to make a call about this. Most of the reports about the story I expected - slacking and not explaining much. But the original anime didn't explain much either. What worries me is the apparent abusive of CGI blood over realfake blood. Time will only show..

Tron trailer that they slipped us last year was true, rumors was floating it was something just to give people hope but no! It looks like we will be getting some Tron action in the coming months. Disney is evil - but hey aren't all movie companies now?

Iron Man 2 looks to be as good as the first, I am more eager though for Robert Downy Jr.'s role as Sherlock Homes. Supposed to be out with in the next months, I will actually leave you all with the trailer for it if you have not seen it yet. Its worth it. Nice to see how well he is returning to acting seriously and being seen seriously as an actor.

Okay, so I was reading over Topless Robot today and found something that made me want to punch my monitor. I can't even describe the horrid information I viewed. I feel bad for TR having to write the article about it. For Shame! Spider man 1 & 2 were great - better then expected given Hollywood's comic to movie history. 3 was a bit of a cluster fuck but I know many nerds that got over it and forgave them. Even enjoyed it.

But from what TR has posted, is this the end of good nerd movies? That they would screw up the story of a CLASSIC comic this far in to a franchise? A story that was ONLY mucked up when they did the "One More Day.." Story line that fucking reset things that had been going on for over fifteen years.

Girl admits to rosting Kitten as a prank

I'm at a loss for words. I thing the girl should be put in an oven her self to see how well she likes it. Its just beyond inhumane to do something on this level. I get locking the cat in a closet or some place just to irritate the owner as the girl "claimed " she was trying to do. But CRANKING up the oven and putting a defenseless kitten inside? Then leaving cause you didn't want to hear the poor thing beg for its life.

She deserves to be locked in a psych ward for the remainder of her life. She sounds like the type of girl to put out posion laced tuna to kill the neighborhood cats.

So not many things make me excited. Lots of "Geek" claimed movies - claimed, not earned/known/confirmed. I say this because of movies like G.I.Joe. I despite being a My Little Pony obsessed girl did watch G.I.Joe - it was one of the few cartoons Fox would air in the mornings. But from the posters and the limited amount of trailers out there ( Not too boot the limited amount of AIR TIME they are even giving the movie) makes me wonder if they are even skeptical about their ability to pull the movie off. The international Poster was more of a hack job that is conflicting in the fact it lacked a headlining villain from the series.

But this article is not supposed to bring you down my loyal readers - its meant to highlight movies that should be worth your time and interest in viewing! A few are direct to DVD - but I feel the plot and what I've been able to view thus far make it worthy to note. And most of them may be horror related because - Well I love horror so yeah. So let us begin!

PontyPool ( Limited release)

What would you do if virus was passed simply by talking? One that turned those you loved in to destructive crazed strangers? Well that's the question posed in Pontypool, in a matter of ways. The day seems like any other day for the radio station till floods of calls start coming in about people doing disturbing things to their friends and neighbors. How can you warn the world about how to deal with it, if it means passing/contracting the virus your self?

This one has me excited if just because this is a direction the Zombie films have not gone. We've seen virus passed by bites and by blood, ones that kill you and those that just transform you. But a virus that passes by simply speaking? Rather original I would say. A key point to the plot is the fact that the movie doesn't (from what I've seen in trailers and clips) shows nothing of the horror going on outside, but centers it's view on a Radio Jock and his staff locked with in the small town radio studio.

This is also a IFC film which adds to my curiosity as I've seen a few flicks that they have pushed out in such a way and been surprised as well as pleased. I've also been watching the station they have on cable and been impressed with the work they are displaying. Here's hopes that Pontypool lives up to my expectations they have set for me.

Okay I am a Tim Burton Geek. I tend to absolutely love anything he does. But this film, when I seen the trailer, I was blown away. It didn't hesitate to suck me in and claim me as it's eager bitch. The choice of just music till the end and it only being one song -"Welcome Home" by Coheed and Cambria - I nearly wet my self in joy. The few later trailers provide us with more information about the plot but remained relatively simple and gave away no more information then the first. I can not wait for this to hit the big screen.

This one seems to be flying under the radar despite it's all star cast. It's going to be a film I think that will surprise the masses as it plays on the fear of how our world will end and what will happen once we are gone.

This one is labeled a horror, but I see a bit more comedy in the mix then blood guts and gore. I think that's why it has my eye because those that most deem "horror" because of the topic they cover or the lines they travel don't always stay that way. It also features a decently assembled cast for such a under the radar movie. So I'm curious to see exactly what tale the bodies will tell.

No Synapse for this - why? Because if your reading this blog you should have read the book as a child! NO EXCUSES!! Okay okay. The movie follows the tale of Max, who after a fight with his mother runs away from home. Only to find him self in a land where the wild things are.

I'm excited for this movie because it looks to be very dedicated to the art and style of the book as well as the story. Rather then use tons of CGI to craft the monsters they return to the valiant art of puppetering and suits. I say valiant because its not easy to make something that five people have to operate together and make it look natural/human like. I think its a nice return since EVERYTHING abuses CGI just because its available now. Makes my brain hurt. I get it for the movies that use it in place of things that would have sent them over budget - especially indy stuff. But major flicks do it too, when they could do it for real. Seriously.

My interpretations from what I've seen in the trailers - A ship traveling in deep space with a full crew and passenger list goes from normal mission to fight for survival. Two crew left in hyper sleep wake to find the ship is empty of those who should have been on board. They struggle to figure out what happened to those who should have been there as well as what happened to the ship. They soon discover they are not the only ones left alive. But they are not entirely alone on the ship either...

Okay space movies screw with my brain. Don't ask me why, that type of stuff can creep me out. Aliens? LOVED IT, but I was scared to hell and back. Event Horizon - yeah, nightmares even though I like it. I don't get it but I think its the thought of what may be waiting for us in space isn't going to be friendly with us. Or may even be something we don't understand or can deal with. I felt the need to share this because it looks rather amazing. And the world has been lacking in good Sci-Fi Horror movies in recent years.

Blood : The Last Vampire

Okay. I saved this for last because this has to be the one I am gunning for above all. I've been watching the anime over and over since I heard about them making a live action. Whats even more impressive is it's not going to stay over seas where I'll have to buy it as an over priced import dvd. If your in to anime or vampires and have yet to see this - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO SO NOW!! The story is short, but draws you in from start to finish. The anime to some can seem a bit dizzying as they never pause to truly explain anything, but i feel that's the best part. The animation is amazing as well as the attention to detail within it. The manga I believe did a bit more upon the story telling and gave more detail to the who/how/why.

The trailer shows that its going to incorporate the anime shot for shot with many scenes, as well as expand on it so much more. I will play nice and share the trailer as I'm very excited to see this come to the US. The fight scenes will be a bit over the top, as its done by the same guy who did Hero and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. But I think it will put more impact on the fact the man character is not human like she appears to be. Enjoy the trailer!

So I've been off playing WoW - trying to get gear and raid like a good little girl. If my guild wasn't full of jackass's I might be better off. But they often ignore me and I don't care anymore.

But more and more the fans seem to have better eyes and visions for how movies should be then how they are getting made. It makes me cry right now that they are REMAKING Alien and Buffy. Not the Buffy TV show - the movie that predates the tv show. WHAT THE FUCK?! Okay okay.. I can see Buffy. It was fairly corny, cheesy and was meant to ride on a special actors 90210 fandom. Fail there.. But Alien? ZOMG FAIL NO. NO.

What makes me think that fans have better eyes for what should be done? Well thanks to Topless Robot post. I can bring you this :

These are just proof that Hollywood really needs to listen to the fans. YES, they need to make a movie that everyone can see/understand. But they fail to acknowledge a good portion of those dropping the money opening weekend are the fans they need to please. Cause as the please the nerd friends, they tell non-nerd friends to see it. Who then are drawn to what originally made the film. Least those with a brain and the natural human curiosity still working for them.

And yes.. I know there are HUNDREDS of HUNDREDS of bad fan made trailers. But I still think when Hollywood see's ones like those above.. they need to stand up and pay attention to the makers of them. Seriously.

WoW and L4D Update Chatter..

For the moment I have stopped the MMORPG Theater videos. I'm not trolling about Youtube much to find anything worth posting. Kill me for being selective. I'll start it up next month or so when I'm sure there will be new videos to catch my eye. As for the picture above its of my sexy new Harley Quinn figure. I got her last week and she is SEXY! Moving on though!

In the past couple of weeks two events took place in WoW - Noblegarden and Children's Week. Noblegarden was meant for Easter but because it was changed from years previous to make it more worth while and something of a challenge for us it was delayed till last week. I'd have to say I enjoyed the changes, the eggs were larger for one! And it was quite fun for it to be more like an actual Egg hunt. Some of them were obviously placed, some not so obviously placed. You collected chocolate from the eggs and could use the chocolate to buy items from vendors. Bunny ears, a dress and so forth. I believe also all the items had a chance to drop from an Easter Egg as well. So many people ended up with multiple items - I my self have a couple of dresses and pants because of this.

Childrens week began at the end of last week and the end of Noblegarden. You pick up an orphan from the orphanage in a select Major city of your fraction - Storm Wind for Alliance and Orgrimmar for the Horde. As well as Shatt for both fractions. You take the child around to sites they want to see, give them candy and then take them home. In return you get a non-combat pet to remind you of them. As well this year, with the achievements it was a bit..more. To get the title you had to have "Personal Achievements" from battle grounds. Which right now as a healer is a bit difficult to pull off, and even more difficult cause my Battle group has gone in the shitter since Wrath. Why this, I don't know. But I am willing to accept this may not happen till next year once I had duelspec open to me and a decent Enhancement set.

NOW on to Left for Dead!

In the past two weeks a new patch dropped for it as well. Opening up a new single level board as well as Survivor mode. I've been able to observe it and it is intense - but as for playing it life has granted me little time at the shop to shut down and do it. Last week was a big weekend for us so my focus was on Free Comic Book Day. Anyway - the single level board is just for Survivor mode from my understanding. They give you all sorts of goodies to hold of the horde and the objective is to last as long as you can while the game throws wave after wave after wave of Horde and special zombies.

I observed my friend playing and they had managed to last long enough to end up with two tanks smashing the team apart. Good times await me!!

Kick-Ass Comic.. is real?!

Okay, I'm going to bed shortly but I found this video and nearly fell off my chair.

Last fall a comic called " Kick-ass" was put out. It was about a kid who read comics, and was inspired to be a SuperHero. He makes a costume and then sets about to stop crime, well.. try. He gets his ass handed to him and is hospiltized. Others though, hearing of his attempt to do good decied to do the same. The boy is shocked to find out that he's managed to inspire people to be Superheros.

I found this video on Topless Robot and felt the need to share. Its a video by Remi Gaillard who apparently - as I'm oblivious 95.5% of the time - has done a few Fan Geek videos. Each managing to be a bit of a nuisance while still being hilarious and disturbing the French Public. I feel his pain though when he gets wailed on by the golfer. OUCH!

A Epic Red Dragon Cake. *squeal of joy* The dragon sits a top a mega mat play mat with gold coins scattered about its massive body and a extremely large D20 under its front right paw. With a commanding gaze and a knowing smirk of the ass kicking it will/would have in store for some poor adventurers - that is if it wasn't a great Geek Birthday Cake!

Back under the sea in BioShock 2!

Fresh off the presses! Video of game play from BioShock 2 : Sea of Dreams. I'm eagerly awaiting for this game and will be giving up L4D to play though this as many times as I can get in.

In BioShock 2, you play as a Big Daddy chasing or being chased by a Big Sister. Like before your collecting Little sisters, but this time they harvest adam along side you - or you can harvest them like in the first game. Once again you can also "upgrade" your self to fling fire, lightening bolts or lift objects. The new improvment though is you can use your plasmids and a wepon at the same time! Something to make quick work of the splicers you face. And as shown in the video, its something your going to need.

It looks as amazing as the first game and the game play video shows it will be a smooth effortless game that will be sure to have people camping their TV's for weekends to come after its release. I hope to see them do a Special Edition with the new Big Sister as the figure as the figure to get.

This is an entire post dedicated to the Humor spawned by Left 4 Dead. A good portion is just randomness, but more of it verges on perverted. All it takes is looking at it the right way.

* edit - While working on this article for your viewing pleasure did I only find out how much of my first statement is wrong. ITS PORN OUT THERE!!! I knew about a humorous obsession with Bill and Louis - but I completely missed this Zoey and Witch fandom! Might I note, we as gamers never seem to have enough time to finish all the games we want to - yet we find the time to make perverted pairings along with art, audio and video for them? WHAT THE FUCK GUYS?!- Now back to your normal broadcast.. *

Now for those of you who have been living under a rock the last six months or so - Left 4 Dead is a FPS from Valve with a "learning" A.I. I've found that it sometimes adjusts what I would call the intelligence of the NPC's should you have them among your group. Sometimes they are 'aware' of whats going on around them, other times they are as blind as Helen Keller in traffic.

For example - there is a Special Zombie known as a Witch. When startled she attacks, two smacks lays out a character. Leaving them sprawled with just their pistils to defend against her attacks or regular horde attacks. A few times we've notice the NPC's will walk RIGHT over her, even if its actually away from the path to follow. Other times they will verbally warn about her and even avoid her.

Back to the humor that has spawned from this game. Staring with something on the perverted side, is a video called Left 4 Bed. Its all audio clips from the video game, from between the two characters Bill and Louis - something that apparently is a fascination for many. People have went as far as to take the original audio and make a Gary's Mod made video to pair it with. Check out more after the jump!

For those of you who feel the need to look up the Gary's mod one, just look for " Left for Bed". It should be a couple down. There is also a Zoey and Frances one but I'm not really impressed with it.

Another amusing video done is a flash video. Using sound clips from the game " Left 4 Speed" was created by OneyNG. Its the best summery of how things tend to go down when no one has a clue of whats going on in Left 4 dead. Which even among a group of experienced players can happen.

Another fun one using sound clips - they all seem to but hey whatever - is Francis hates left for dead. Its a song made up of the character Francis sound clips from game play. Each area they all have random comments about the area they are in. And someone took a great amount of time to make this video and I thank them. Its spawned so many more jokes. Like the image above.

More of the humor aspects come from game play, glitches and people finding out those fun game code errors no one seen coming. My favorite thus far is a glitch with a statue in Dead Air. I've yet to try/find this one out for my self. But the video alone as a hilarious note for anyone who's played.

Like with all though the humor does venture in to the art world. Drawings and such of events, characters and thoughts have been spawned by the leagues of gamers who are now dedicated fans of the game. As interwebs nerds - they have even invaded LOLCats. Below are some fine examples of what I am willing to show. Some go.. well to a few places I wouldn't. Google is your friend if you want it. I tried to find images of something other then the witch, but I'd rather you just find out for your self what I seen.

As I find things that make me laugh about the game. I'll share. For now folks thats all I got I think.

Lack of attention span..

Okay okay okay. I fail I know. But I have a good reason, I've yet to find any good videos for MMOrpg Theater recently and I've been working on my life as it needed some TLC attention.

Gaming wise though I am still going strong. My Shammie is level 80 - I know I'm lazy but I didn't want to bust through all the new content. I also took time off and worked like crazy doing the holiday events. Shes getting her T7.5 gear when I get selected to jump in raids. Other wise I'm farming to have the gold for the duel spec calculator once its available in the next patch. It will make life so much easier!

Also I have been lucky to get one of the new loot cards that drops a "Spectral Tiger" like bouncing thing. I can't describe it really. But if I can cast a spell while on it - OMG its going to get dropped during raids so I can just cast from it!

I've not had much chance to play Left 4 Dead which makes me a sad panda - but hey we can't always go off to kill zombies. Fun times are ahead I am sure. The new updates for L4D should be dropping soon which will allow for Versus mode on Death Toll and Dead Air. YAY! I can't wait for it really. I'll try to do a serious writing of some sort later. Maybe.

For now I'll share the videos of the new Loot Cards in action. The fun times is enough to make me want to sign on to a PTR and have fun with the stupid fun that it creates with beating people with foam swords. YAY!

Big brother in it's infinite wisdom is once again a failasaurous. Just listen to the video - and please note this is coming from ANOTHER country because our new's media teams are a bunch of apes sitting on their thumbs owned by those that want this even kept secrete.

For those who would rather not, basically whats happening for " the sake of national security" they are trying to slip in more ways to monitor our privacy. In an attempt to stop file sharing, software sharing, music, movie and game sharing they will be able to randomly search electronic devices to look for such copyrighted items and even confiscate your device. A country, that prides it's self on allowing its citizens to have privacy is trying to make it accessible to them to invade what a great many people consider very personal.

All in the name of National Security. Does anyone else feel a bit of flashback? Bush administration and the wire tapping clause that was "missed" when the National Security laws were pushed in to place. Seems to be the same thing going on here, as its not something be made open to the public. Anything you feel the need to hide can only be for reasons far more sinister then you "claim" when confronted. At least is the case 9 times out of 10.

The video title is a bit wrong, as its not being passed in to law. Its being worked out as a treaty with European countries and potentially others. So this isn't something that will happen JUST here folks. This is something that can/could effect EVERYWHERE.

SO I am sharing this for those in to Anime and PC games. My local Circuit City went out of business recently ( all of them are, just a matter of time now), and it seems that Biglots bought up some of the merch they could sell.

I found the first two disks to the Moon Phase anime for 3 bucks a piece. I found the third disk to the WitchBlade Anime for 3 as well. And a game I play on steam at work for 6. I got all of them for under 20 bucks. Go clean them out of Anime and Games before the good stuff is gone! They had quite a few diffrent Animes up for grabs - Kodachan, FMA, XXXaolic and more! Go feed your addiction at a STUPIDLY cheep price. Enjoy kids!

DC's new MMORPG a rip off?

So it was brought to my attention ( Ty G4 for still doing SOMETHING) that DC Comics has decide to venture in to the world of MMORPG's. No, you can't play Batman or Wonder Woman. From the looks of it, I am afraid to say, it looks like a knock off of City of Heroes and Villains. Just with a DC Spin as well as our favorite characters being NPC's in the city.

So, its my understanding. DC is expecting people to buy a game, already available for public consumption by a different name and has a dedicated fan base. BRILLIANT!! I never knew they could be so creative...Please pardon the sarcasm.

Now this is nothing new, as the original project was announced back in 07'. But the recent video I caught on G4, made me wonder what was the point? Why not link up with the Heroes and Villain's world - crafting a special edition server in which people can make characters suited for the DC Universe? Minus the else world versions, I'm sure.

I'm sure you could call this a bitch post. But in the economy right now, its a huge risk to ask people to invest in a game that doesn't change up anything that's not already found in CoH&V. I'm sure they will get their share of die hard DC fans buying it, but these are the same fans reeling from the R.I.P event that went - in my opinion - weird and wrong. The last issue in the arc NOT the last issue? Why didn't you explain that maybe FOUR months ago so that everyone was aware of the situation you were putting them in for.

Here I am though talking about a Comic Company that has yet to truly launch them selves in to movies like their competitors have done such a brilliant job doing. Maybe they hope to hit a home run by getting to the MMO play first before Marvel, I'm not sure. Here are some key points of the game thanks to MMOCrunch

Highly customizable characters. You can even base them off of DC characters with 1 click of a button, then modify them if you want.
PvP Combat in a Open World.
Quests are called Cases and Capers depending if your a Hero or Villain.
Fighting along side or against some famous DC characters. Superman, Batman, Joker, etc.
Environment Manipulation, stuff like throwing cars
Fast Movement/Traveling, depending on your powers

Now, I like the quest name change/creativeness. That's cute, something I'm surprised CoH&V didn't touch on. And while you can MODEL your character off a existing DC Hero of Villain, you can not PLAY that character. I doubt that will stop people from making a Trillion Batman, Superman, Jokers and Ra's al Ghul.

The world PvP is a concept that's decent, I base this more off what the fellows at MMMOcrunch theorize. As a Hero you make have to protect someone, yet as a Villain your Caper may be to kill that same person, thus allowing for PvP action.

How do they account for the Environment Manipulation? Someone throws a car, but it magically resets an hour later? Isn't this the issue that AoC ran in to when wanting to give players the ability to destroy the environment. They were unable to make it a reality. Blizzard has pulled it off and for the moment I think it may be the only way to do it without it glitching out horribly.

What they did for WoW was in the new area is a Zone in which ever couple of hours the Horde and Alliance fight for control. Destroying the apposing fractions stations, building on the Battle grounds they put in during Burning Crusade. It allows players to earn marks, and when there fraction has control over the zone buy things that they can not get anywhere else. Giving players a reason to want to control the zone. Once the battle is done I believe ( because despite being on a PvP server, I'm not big on PvP)the zone resets, in favor of the controlling fraction to allow for Vendors and such to respawn.

That being said, I can't even imagine how they are going to come up with an ability for throwing cars and such that doesn't kick people in the area/zone off or cause a massive server reboot so that items and objects can be returned to their coded place. While I'm curious to see it happen, the over all game doesn't pull me in. Without something that makes WoW, CoH&V and the already existing MMo's look like child's play, they may not cause any ripples at all in the community's established.

I'm not calling fails yet, simply I see the same thing happening with it as with so many. Curiosity seekers looking for something different giving it a nice starting charge, but nothing that lasts long once they (the players) realize that they are playing a game they've played before already, only it has a shiny new finish and different names for things. Stick to what you know.

So, I failed to do a MMORPG Theater video this past week - for that I do apologize to those who look forward to the retarded gaming fun I bring you to entertain your long work days. What some of you don't know is I am a (professional?) model.

I received a call Monday from the CEO of BODacious Magazine asking me to represent the magazine on a Spanish Talk show. Foolishly I assumed I would have time for my normal routines, it was only once I talked to the Producer from the show I learned they wanted me in Miami this past week for filming. Go-go Headless Chicken time. For those who want to read more about the event I'm going to defer you to my other blog.

I will resume my normal updates this coming Monday - barring I've not lost my mind in my up coming move.

In Gaming for me, I accomplished all of the V-day events in WoW with TWO exceptions - The Perma Peddelfeet and Pitty the Fool. Why Might you ask to the latter? I'm still only 78 with no Cold Weather flying. I do have the loaner mount from the one vendor, but due to the fact it is only a 60% speed increase and marks you as " Busy" in any attempt to agro or select something without exiting it first - I've nearly lost my mind in frustration. A guildie who is a good friend has offered to loan me 500 Gold it I raised the other portion first. I started that attempt last weekend by selling tons of stuff I had been setting on and I've not checked on my process since due to my RL disruption. Here's hoping though that I made more then just the five hundred needed so I don't go COMPLETELY broke.

In Warhammer 40k I'm looking forward to the new purchase of my Keeper of Secrets from Forge World. GOD SHE IS SEXY! And she will be modified by the illustrious Golden Dragon Winner Steve Fields. And hopefully she will win a Golden Dragon. I will have pictures for the progression of the modification as well as finished product. I may only play with her on occasion as the KoS is a point over kill for the direction I plan to take my army, she will be beautiful for Apocalypse games. And because its also amazingly beautiful ( the way they painted it ) I'm closing this post with a picture of the New (and now avilable) Brass Scorpion. Enjoy kids and see you monday!

Something thats a must see for classical music lovers..

I have a special place in my heart for classical music. I was trained and adored playing the Violin. As a child I would listen to diffrent sets and plays from the great Composers as I went to sleep at night. It has fueled my love of all musics, the way they can sway our emotions, set the scene and even inspire us to turn things around if they catch us at the right moment. As a dancer it wired music in to me even further as I learned to work and move to the beats no matter how obscure to the untrained ear.

So when I find little gems music related - I have to share them. From what I can see of the trailer is a beautiful movie that will secure Robert Downy Jr.'s spot back in Hollywood as a Actor to contend with. Paired off with Oscar Winner Jamie Foxx it looks to be an amazing movie. The movie you ask? The Soloist

The movie is based off the true story of a LA times Journalist, a homeless man and their random chance friendship. While it sounds a bit campy its ANYTHING but from what the trailer shows, its one I am eager to see as well. If your a fan of music, this will be the must see movie for you this year. The story is amazing from what I am reading (And will be doing more so)and its something that may even score them Oscars next year.

Okay time for that weekly video does of something from the game world for vewing entertainment. Mind you this one involves Halo, which I have featured before. I know its not an MMORPG. But the title of the video post stuck which is why its just a weekly event. Also MMORPG Videos I've found get around really fast. So I try to bring something a bit fresh to this table other then something you've already seen.

This weeks video is one of my favs, it always makes me smile to watch it. It shows that if your not Geek, chances are your one of "Them". "Them" being the tech-ignorant. I live with one so this just makes me grateful shes NOT this bad.

Speaking of her, she picked up her Wii Fit today. Dragged me out of bed to set it up for her so she could use it. Shes gotten better about using the remote - even though she won't touch the system without me or someone here with her. So I can only wonder how the Wii Fit will work out for her truly. Something they need to advise you on - next to wearing the strap and objects - is that you might strain muscles and in turn make your self VERY sore. Odd that they don't since most Gamers are "known" for being out of shape and such.

I managed to make my self sore playing bowling yesterday. I thought just my elbow would bother me, but it seems my shoulder and back are in on the attack more so. Its something I should have exspected cause you really do get in to the game. Most I've seriously played on Wii was Wario Party. Which isn't really active, but is lots of good party fun.

Right now I'm downloading the new WoW Patch. I wonder what goodies await me this time. I do remember someone talking about the racial restraints on mounts being lifted. I'm sure thats going to make for a clustefuck of amusement.

I'll report later on any humor worthy findings.

Edit: As I finished this post the patch notes poped up on my screen. I skimmed through them, noting the confirmed Mount change. I skimmed to my Main's Class - Shaman, to see what changes were made. To my less then exuberant joy - I get to RESPEC because they refunded my talent points due to a change in ONE talent tree. I didn't notice if any other class had to respec, but forgive me for being annoyed. My issue is I'm playing a spec - to level mind you - I'm not familiar with. So I had to do a few trial and errors with the tree when I respeced at 71. I had something I could work with. And as I moved up in level I did what i could to improve what I had, but now cause I really don't have a good memory I get to try the game agian. Good times. -.-

Wii Fun, Left 4 Dead and then some..

So, my roommate figured it was time she broke down and bought a Wii. Even though she is a technological reject who with out my help would have lost her computer a few times over. She mainly got it because she wants to get a Wii Fit, I agreed just because I wanted a new toy in the house to have fun with as I've been in a great debate over what Third Gen Console to move forward with first. So we go hunting last night and pick one up at Toys R' Us. Btw did you know some board games are only sold at Toys R' Us now? Crazy that they would get the exclusive rights for such things but hey whatever keeps you in business. Back to the Wii though. Due to life, I didn't get it set up on our TV till today. More hoop jumping of getting it set up in our wireless network and updating ensues.

I've played with Wii's before so its no new thing for me really. Having to maintain two for work has given me some trial and error time with them. But she as the techie ignorant she is, is amazed over how small it is and what it can do. For the moment she's still afraid to use the remote, unsure of the control system (mind you shes the want who wanted to buy it)and would rather was my self and a friend play bowling for three hours without even trying her self. And yes, I kicked his ass seven ways of Sunday. Dun dun duuuuuuuunnnn... Which is a bit trickery then one might thing given the advanced control system of the Wii.

She asks to see the boxing when my friend figures he'd give it a try, but the moment we hand her the controllers she acts like we've given her the cloth that cover Jesus and doesn't want to move like she needs too. She ends up frustrated and chooses to sit back out. As much as I love her, shes one of the people who make me believe that if you don't know how to work it without help - then you don't need to own it. What is she going to do when I move out? Call me at four in the morning to tell her how to sync her wii fit board? I might kill her if she tried!

I've been busy gaming wise, not so much with WoW like I should be. My Shammie is level 77, but may stay there as I wait for Guldies to catch up. I've done all the quests I can for my level that I can do on my own without my epic flying mount. So I really need to farm gold if anything.

I don't think he wants a kiss...

But have no fear ! I've been owning my friends in my new FPS love - Left 4 Dead. OMFG if the game was alive I'd make love to it. The AI, the zombies alone and the game play are just so omfg amazing!! I hate Bill and Zoey when the computer controls them. Zoey because she always one shots my ass when I'm infected before I can even get close. Bill because the damn ass wouldn't take the pills I gave him when he was near dead, he kept getting in my way during the Train yard Level of Death Toll and thus nearly got me killed twice. I was more then happy to leave his ass for the horde when they rushed us at the house before the safe room.

Its a game we can't get enough of in my gaming group. If we have the chance to play around we haul ass to try and squeeze in two. Its so easy to forget time and get lost in the game figuratively and literally. As you advance your level of difficulty the game changes. Spawn points of special zombies that can quickly end you to a door you might have used before you died or a spawn point of ammo that you had used before. I may love this game as much as I love BioShock in my FPS heart. And that's a hard spot to earn as I'm not normally a big FPS fan. Too many of them seem the same. But Valve out did them selves with Left 4 Dead. I could go on for hours so I'm going to end that here...

Before the irritated comments begin, I've been sick and kept my happy gamer ass in bed rather then spreading the plague as a few of my friends were so kind to do. My local Gamer hang out has been littered with people who should have kept their oozing, coughing, sniffling bodies at home. Moving on though to the belated video..

This week's feature is an amusing mix of FPS - in a head to head.. dance off? Yep. UT3 and Halo meet for a dance off - of all things. The results are a bit head tilt worthy and I got a good giggle out of it hence why I am displaying it even for you. While I'm not sure if the high quality one will be available via my blog - I recommend clicking on the video to go to the youtube.com portal for it to watch the high quality one. The makers of the video went to the trouble of putting it up - we should enjoy the high detail goodness!

I'm in to a lot of different music and while looking for a video for today I ran across this one which caught my eye. Using a remixed song of "So Sick" by Flyleaf they make a a beautiful video for the song using WoW characters and settings from in game instances. While its not a video to make you laugh or cry, its something to kill a bit of time!

If you've never head of them, Flyleaf is often billed as a Christian Alternative band. The lead singer, while small in size has an amazing voice. MMORPG Theater : Who's the Tank?

Well.. Its now a weekly thing I will be doing. Scouring through the video websites to find the more amusing or theatrical -should it be there - side of MMORPGs. I figure this is worth doing since the genre sucks so much of our lives up, we're either laughing at it to make it easier on our selves or taking it waaaaaayyyy to seriously. I will be doing my best though to bring you things to make you laugh about the obsessive games eating away at our lives raid by raid, level by level and loot by loot.

Now, personally with WoW related humor videos I tend to favor Oxhorn Shorts for their videos as they tend to be well scripted and thought out. But I've come across a little gem of a video using Classic Humor with a new little twist. Now its fair to say if you don't play WoW ( or any other MMORPG with group builds for raids/instances and such ) you may become as confused as the Dwarf your about to see. I hope you can get past it to find the humor in the video though of how easily the confusion takes hold thanks to our happy lauguage.

In the video take a classic Abbot and Costello routine of "Who's On first " aptly renamed " Who's the Tank ". The video creators follow the routine fairly well and I have to admit its funny, if just for the few first moments of the video. And if you don't like the classics, well its something to eat away a few minutes of your day that you pretend to be working. Enjoy!

While I find this video funny and somewhat true - for me its not. For a demographic of women who are nearly brain dead or over 45, it is true. I have to give the guy credit for making up lyrics that didn't repeat. Mainly because a friend of mine in collage one night when my best friend (who is a guy) was playing tetris that went along the lines of " We are little Russian men who love to play with blocks.." and it repeated a whole lot.

We often found our selves humming the tetris music with the lyrics he made up in our head while out on the town. Go nerds. Video after the jump...

Okay I've been busy being social on WoW and in real life with lots of nice events with friends. I had some time tonight that I took off from grinding - I'll explain tomorrow if I can - to check out some videos on you tube. I found an amusing WoW one that goes over the classes. It was mad pre-BC (burning crusade for those of you lacking knowledge)and covers things fairly well as far as how the class's seem to be. The only thing thats changed since the video was made is Mages are stupid broken and poor Shammies are limping along. I play one so I know, but do enjoy the video for some snickers.

Nothing against you - my valued readers(if any). I've been sick and busy dealing with other stuff that involves actually being paid monies. So here is the new Watchmen trailer to make up some for it. It actually gives people who've not read the graphic novel a bit more insight in to the plot of the movie. As well as builds on the pure music trailer put out back in July.

I'll be back on Monday with an actual blog as I plan to cave to the curiosity by picking up my game and a time card. Cause I really should talk to my friends there again. Have a good weekend folks!

WotlK but no game time and prviate servers

I admit it. I've gotten lazy. Actually scared it more like it, with the Wrath of Lich King to be released at midnight tonight I can only imagine how things will be. Spend an hour to two hours to get my copy that I paid for. Spend another two hours updating my system and downloading the new expansion to it. Only to.. wait what? A QUEUE?!

Yep. Something I exspect to see on many EST servers ( with others to follow suit respectively as it becomes 12 am their time) due to the people who left WoW (for 50 assorted reasons) only to return with WotLK. Causing servers that were low population when they left to surge up to high or even locked status in many cases (Like with my own. -.-) I wouldn't be surprised to see a number of realms to actually crash due to the overwhelming resurgence of players returning with the expansion as curiosity of the new is always a deal breaker when you swear something off.

So whats a girl to do? Thank her Lazy nature for a change. I forgot to get a new subscription card for my account and my game time expired yesterday actually. Now it won't top me from doing a one time charge to one of my cards should the urge push me, but I already know what its going to be like. Not to add I've avoided WoW the past week due to Guild Drama I seen coming a mile away thanks to a friends forewarning. So I've not gotten any recent game time really.

But bearing in mind I already roam a regular Medium to High Population server I can only wonder what tonight would bring if I did attempt to log on after updating with WotLK. More like I wonder how long my Queue is going to be really. I tried to get a bit of game time in on one of the private servers I frequent only they are still on patch 2.4.3 and I've already gotten the 3.0.3 patch - I could downgrade but that means having to install the Echos of Doom patch along with the correction patches. So I've attempted to locate a diffrent private server in which to game on that is up to patch 3.0.3. Not much luck really.

The few I found when I attempted to access their server lists via the WoW launch screen I was told my account - which should have been active by now didn't exist and I should contact Blizzard for help. It made me giggle and sad at the same time. The Private servers supporting 3.0.3 don't offer a forum or area where I could ask why I was unable to access the realm lists for their servers. Given I had changed what I needed to in order to get on but with no luck and no help. Whats this teach us kids? Find a friend with a private server you can play on. Seriously.

Some things are just not right.. This happens to be one of them!!

So I admit I am something of a blog troll. I have the blogs I read daily, the ones I wait till the end of the week to entertain me when I'm at work late at night and then those that are observed more casually. Well its one of my casual observation's that had something that amused me.. some what.

What if you read a blog regularly but couldn't tell the gender of the blogger? What if for the curious nature all humans have had gotten to you when it came to this blogger? Have no fear! The GenderAnalyzer is here to save your day! Almost. See the way the program works is over a set amount of time data was imputed from bloggers here on Blogger.Com where their gender was already known for a set amount of blogs. I smell creative failure in the making, but hey I'm an open minded girl! Lets give it a try. I tested it with my blog - anyone care to take a guess at the gender it asumed for me?

If you guess Male, you'd get a cookie. If I had any. I'm not surprised really as my blog is about things guys often talk about after all. Moving on, the other blogger that wrote this artical on this page on did a randomized test in which they either knew the gender of the blogger before hand or (in the case of the New York Times ) it wouldn't take much to figure out. Some information on the blog - its HeartlessDoll.Com, a pop Culture blog of sorts writen by a few women. Its entertaining often and has some good articals. I don't always aggree but the girls make good points that I can see so it keeps me coming back.

NYTimes.com: written by a man.
Jezebel: written by a woman.
Salon's Broadsheet: written by a man.
Heroine Sheik (my own blog): written by a man.

As you can see, there are some problems right off the bat. 1) NYTimes.com is not written exclusively by men. 2) Broadsheet is written by women. 3) I am not a man.

The break down of the way the program processes data shows that obviously the developers of this "Gender finder" really need to expand their testing ground and take blogs where their may be multiple posters in to consideration for the data used. My understanding of the way it works is much like a search bot on any webpage, crawling a site to hit on keywords basicly. Right?

Says Kagstrom, the developer, "I think the reason for the somewhat low accuracy is because we have biased training data (only collected from blogspot)." Yeah, Blogspot isn't necessarily the height of cultural nuance, but it is interesting to see what stereotypes get dredged up by using blogs like that to determine how men and women write. Check out some example of how Gender Analyzer thinks the following words break down, and you'll see what I mean:
Technology: 99.3% male
Love: 89.9% female
Sex: 56.6% male, 43.4% female.

So, if I follow this blog up with one where I typed Love a good twenty or thrity times - it MIGHT get my gender right. And the point of this silly program again is?

I go to a special page every day because of the random things I find on it, yesterday I tracked across this and thought it was interesting enough to share.

Its a demo for a game that looks like it could be interesting and entertaining given you have to figure out your way around in a WHOLE new way. I look forward to seeing this move from Tech Demo to game demos soon.

The Blogger.. Part 2

So picking up where I paused at the other night. My gaming education then shifted gears as I got in to RTS and MUDs online. Now by this time I was in High School and my gaming for consoles was a observation through one cousin who was still gaming strong.

Time drags on.

I started dating and a few boyfriends in I find one in to gaming on consoles. And fearing to be rusty as he's on a PS2, I'm more curious to watch and observe over his shoulder then jump in to gaming. At one point a friend of his finds out about this and attempts to convince him to marry me as soon as he can. I find the humor in it of course, but whats even funnier is I'm still with him to this day. Gaming away, but I'm getting a head of my self.

It is with the PS2 I find New additions to the Silent Hill and RE families. A few sleepless weekends later of gaming at his place I add these to my happy memory box. I soon discover Fatal Frame. It was like the rush when I discovered Silent Hill. The game play was new and unusual - if a bit frustrating at times with the restrictions to camera movements but the game didn't lose its hold on me. I soon added it to my list of games to play till the disk broke.

I get in to playing with him in Slayers and other fighting games. You win some and lose some. Then one day when we were hanging out I wander in to the game room to find him playing a curious game on the PC. I'd never seen it before, it looked like some card game but not with playing cards. So in my usual way, I sat and watched. It was a couple days till I got the urge to ask him to play my self. He sat by my side and helped walk me through my new addiction - Magic the Gathering. The game, now seriously out dated, was a PC version in which you played a Plains Walker trying to save a world from being taken over. It was amusing, but he soon told me that it wasn't just a PC game. WHAT? I had to see this.

So we dug around in a closet in his room to find a moving box full of MtG cards. I dove in reading what I could get my hands on. It wasn't long till he was helping me build a Green deck. And he found his old decks for us to play with. It became something fun for us to do when we just wanted to sit and spend time together. Playing with the cards, making new decks or looking at what was coming out.

Another skip in years, we move (as in him and I) and the addiction keeps going. We find places to play against others. We become regulars and get better at our skills and game styles - he's more aggressive while I play on strategy. After some time of learning rules and getting better I take over running the weekly events for a friend at his Comic and Gaming Shop. I get to be a bigger geek by picking up my comics on top of gaming. Go me.

It gets better though, as my friend loses his shop help he asks me to take his place in helping him run the shop. I gladly agree to it, while working with my boyfriend to get him in place to run the FNM when I wasn't able to. Now at the shop we cover all types of gaming, table top, console, LAN gaming and miniatures. So now on a daily bases I get a great big helping of other types of gaming. This is where I get an exposure to WoW. At first I giggle and mock it, amused by it in truth. Months though in what is really a far more stressful job then some might think, I cave and make a trial account to vent some stress. It was better then I expected and far more entertaining.

In between all of this insanity - I get in to Anime. LORD do I get in to it, Cosplaying and all. My best friend took me to my first AnimeCon. BEST TIME EVER. Anyway I can sum this part up in one word - Otaku. Tyvm. My mom also raised me on Star Wars, Star Trek and M*A*S*H. So yeah I'm just all over the f*king place really.

Currently I still work for this shop, I'm still with the boyfriend and I'm a big geek. As it stands my Boss got in to Warhammer and 40k. I'm currently looking at building my own army, as well as my boyfriend. I still play Magic, if anything to appease the guys surprised to hear a girl plays. I play WoW.. and consoles.. and more then I really have money for. God Help me.

But hey... I'm a Gamer.

The Blogger.. Part 1

Not really sure how to start this honestly. I mean, how do you really talk about your self? I suppose its something that may come through more as I blog and you read. But I think some background information helps.

I come from a mostly female family. I was raised by my grandmother and mother. I only have a sister and a few cousins I consider siblings because they spent so much time in my house or I in their. SO there goes any talk of me getting in to games because of a Brother. ^_^ Kinda makes me proud I guess.

Sexy NES

Our very first system was a classic NES. I loved Duck Hunt, though I did try to shoot the dog a few times due to his mockery. My sister liked Mario. I remember we got it for Christmas along with a TV for us to play it on. My mom I think did it to keep us busy so she could watch TV in the Living room, but as she listened to us play she got in to playing her self.

It became a family thing to play Duck Hunt or Super Mario. It was fun times for us really, my grama even got in to playing as well. Something that continued in to our next system - the Sega Genesis. While I don't remember what other games we had for the NES, we had tons for the Sega. As well as having the system for a rather long time. My grandma and my sister got in to playing Toe Jam and Earl. It was there way of spending time together, mostly impart due to as my sister got older the more her and my grandma seemed to clash.

We had Sonic and a few 2-d side scrollers, as well as Street Fighter II. Mortal Kombat was one of my favorites. The list is gets kinda endless here. Life moved on and we changed consoles agian. This time upgrading to the snazzy Play Station.

We all ooh'd and Ahh'd over it as we all tried to find games we could get in too. Mom and Grama found Casino style games they liked to play on it, while my sister found racing games and Crash Bandicoot were her flavor. I struggled to get in to them, the casino ones were alright and racing was sorta fun - unless my sister picked a track she knew and I didn't.

Creepiest Mofo EVER!

This though would be where I found a genera where my addiction would really begin. Silent Hill. Creepy, nerve wracking and SO GOD DAMN COOL. I played through it over and over again till I had each portion of the game nearly memorized. Beautiful graphics compared to so many of the time, a life all its own. I was amazed. My passion for this style of games still flourishes today. I love a game that can pull you in by the collar and hold you there till your gasping for air. I followed it with Resident Evil and anything that seemed close to the style of either.

This is however where my console journey with my family ends though. Times changed, people changed. We ended up getting a computer at some point, and I got in to playing (For some reason) the silly little games it came with. They kept me busy, but as I figured out the functions of a pc I moved along in gaming. I got my first taste of a RTS with Cesar. It was a great game I loved to play, addictive really. I actually have a current version of the game to play, but with the updated graphics and snazzy new features to actually go in the houses of the people in your town - I still love the very first.

Female Gamer Vs. Gamer girls

I found this article while surfing google in my hunt for a decent Gamer Girl Blog, it makes valid points because we all know a few of both types of girls described in the article. I see it at work and I am a female gamer to the core. But I thought this would help those who lack the foresight to see what they are dealing with in truth sometimes.

Its a topic I'm sure will be a main stay as some people think chicks don't game, or at lest truly game. Not just try to own someone in Halo or Counter-strike. I mean is the one pushing for late night D&D cause her level 12 Elf/Human Rogue is going to kick some level 11 Gnomes Warrior's ass in some all out battle for gold. Because there is more then FPS's out there. And we ARE there.

The Difference Between 'Female Gamers' and 'Gamer Girls'

We treat them like a rare species, but really, women who game are not that uncommon. Recent polls have put the figure between 35 and 40 percent of women, a minority but not a scarcity. Negative Gamer's Chelsea — aka Nintendoll — spotted something elsewhere that set her teeth on edge, and she wants to set the record straight about the reasons women and girls game. Because in her view the experience risks getting cliquey and catty, like high school.

Female gamers separate into two groups, Chelsea says, that are pretty easy to understand. "Girl gamers" do it for the attention — "a feeling of security and control from her social circle" — while "female gamers" just want to have friends who share an interest in games. "Since these “gamer girls” get their self-esteem from the praise and adoration of men who play video games, they become dependent on video games as something far more than entertainment."

How does it get to that point?

Well, it’s a problem that many people suffer from that is completely unrelated to gaming: low self-esteem. These girls want to be part of what they see as an exclusive boy’s club. It is true that women are currently a minority in the gaming industry, which is why gaming men find girls who play video games more desirable. Girls who feel the need to be loved try to sneak their way into this “boy’s club” using video games as a pretense to say that they’re a “tomboy” or “just one of the guys.” But the reality is that it is not really for the “equality” that they constantly complain is absent, but for the feeling of superiority over other girls coupled with the adoration of the male gaming community.

And that's where it gets catty.

“Gamer girls” hate on each other because they feel threatened by each other. Another female in this “boy’s club” diffuses the overall attention that a girl will get. Therefore a “gamer girl” will rip into another female gamer to protect her status as the most important girl in this male-dominated social circle. This is not unique to the video game industry, I’ve seen it happen in other predominantly male territories such as tech schools and the local rock climbing gym I used to frequent.

How can dudes help? She doesn't say, and I don't want to get all womyn's-studies on you here. But I'd say that treating everyone who picks up a controller, male or female, like a gamer first is a good start.
Patronizing, condescending or leering behavior would definitely discourages an interest in gaming as a fun activity, and if they continue it'll be for the other reasons Chelsea described — attention seeking, social superiority, etc.

I know I foment a lot of the "OMG hot girls who game" stuff, but when you look at them — Jo Garcia and Grace Kim are demonstrably serious about what they do, and the cosplayers are definitely informed about the games they like. To me, that's even hotter, and you see it when you game with them seriously.

OKAY! So.. I've gotten it to were I want it. For now. Some more tweaking I'm sure will happen but right now I'm pleased with the look and feel for the most part. Everything is a work in progress though as they say.

So as it stands right now I'm mostly looking to get AdSense up and running. I am also looking for sponsors or people who just want some ad space on my blog. Gaming, geek or nerd related - how ever you like to say it.

Right now my intentions is to just do a blog that isn't just about one thing, but a few things. Cause as a Geek/Gamer I'm in to quite a few things, and I know other gamers that are as well. But I also feel like there is something honestly lacking in the department of a blog from a regular gamer girl.

Sure you can go look at supposed "Hot gamer girls" on hotgamergirls.com - yet I have a very good feeling half those supposed "Gamer girls" wouldn't know a DS from a NES. They only see the attention they get from posing with the xbox controller and figure they should do it more. There are a few places for Gamer girls, but the focus on Video Games. Gamer girls exist in many realms of the world of Games that is owned by men. There is TCG's, Pen and Paper, Board Games and Miniatures.

As well as much as I would love to see these sites flourishing, they seem to be ghost towns. Lacking of a population that actively talks, sparse posts in a starving forum with only a few regular readers and posters that cling to the hope of change.

I don't promise to cover everything. Rather hard, but I will cover what I can, post often and just give my two cents when it matters. Beyond that who knows..

I'm sure your dying for information about me now, but I'll save that for another post as the hour grows late and I really should try to sleep tonight. Hardcore bloggage begins tomorrow. Mark my word.
