Weekend Nerd Round up

Karen Gillan aka "Amy Pond", Current Doctor Who Companion
So. It was a busy nerdy weekend it seems. Some things funny, somethings not so funny. So I'm going to give you a quick run down of things.

First up :
Karen Gillan the current Doctor who Companion actress it seems got lost after one hell of a party at The Ace Hotel. I'll leave you with the article snip it from Topless Robot :
Doctor Who star Karen Gillan was found naked in a New York hotel corridor after a night of riotous partying.

Miss Gillan, 23, who plays the Time Lord's assistant Amy Pond, was seen 'whimpering' in the nude by guests at 7am before security arrived, wrapped her in a sheet and escorted her to her room.
She and co-stars including Matt Smith, who plays the Doctor, had been put up at The Ace, one of Manhattan's trendiest hotels, during a promotional trip.

After fulfilling their duties, the cast and crew enjoyed 'one long party', according to fellow guests. One permanent male guest told the Daily Mail he heard someone trying to open his door at 7am.

The resident, who later identified the stranger as Miss Gillan, said: 'I went to the peephole and looked out. I saw a man at the lift who was looking back at someone who was attempting to open my door... the next thing I saw was a woman giving this person at my door two towels before getting into the lift and leaving.

'Then I saw this young woman, completely naked, trying to wrap two towels around her and not having much luck. 'She then started to whimper and knock on my door. Seeing that she wasn't getting anywhere, she lay down with the towels covering her.'

I truly feel bad for her. One has to wonder what happened to her clothing and how she ended up in the hall naked to begin with.  I'm sure this will come up eventually and the story will be explained. At least I hope up to the point she ended up in the hall naked.

Moving on. Actor Peter Falk passed away last Thursday. While yes, he was best known for his Colombo role, he played the grandfather and story teller in Princess Bride - a cult favorite among the nerd and geek community. Its always sad to hear of the passing of someone who gave artistically to the community.

It seems that last nights True Blood premiere was a bit of a bomb, at least with my friends. I didn't catch the show as I refuse to pay for HBO right now, but given the qoute I seen from one friend I rather cringed.

I can only wonder if the episode is worth watching. Given someone who normally likes the show is giving it such harsh remarks to the production of it and how it went. Though I'm sure he may have just missed the green chick. Which can only make me wonder how this season will play out since its supposed to be the finale season. DUN DUN DUUUUUNNNNNNNNN.

Now I will note other things of intrest. Like DC pushing out a promo image for the reboot thats happening this fall. Something I have failed to touch on for a good reason. While I am not a DC fan, I am a fan of a Comic store and feel some of what they are doing is a big F*&K you to comic stores and those that love them. I'm watching the information as it comes out and at some point I will make a more educated article about it, but I'm refraining so for now because it will be in most part a rant from me about the stupidity of it (Cause yes, its SO stupid what they have declared thus far *head slam on desk*).

In the mean time I leave you with this video from the lovely folks at Machinima.com who thought it would be great to quiz the Booth Babes at E3. I understand many of them not getting the first one as that's a obscure question only people who played the game would know. The others on the other hand are all over the place enough to know. Well.. at least in my opinion they are. But then again I'm not just a pretty face.

The "booth babe" video is a riot. Last week I was reading posts on another friend's blog and FB page about geeks and their questioning the sincerity of hot female geeks. The crowd was split. I mentioned that I thought some of these guys were confusing our fellow geeks with booth babes, who are just being paid to show up, cosplay your favorite characters, and look hot. I wish I'd had this video to post.

....not to say present company isn't hot. In my opinion, geek girls beat out booth babes any day.
